Thank you to Erin Ferguson of Youth As Resources for sharing with us the importance of getting involved in our community.
When planning a service project you have to set goals, your goals should be S.M.A.R.T.
Specific: Who is involved? What do I want to accomplish? Where is it going to happen? When? Which requirement or constraints exist? Why, what is the purpose or benefit?
Measurable: Create concrete criteria for measuring progress and success.
Attainable: Identify goals that are the most important to you. While focusing on them, they become closer to your reach because you are growing and investing time to achieve them.
Realistic: To be realistic, a goal must be one that you are both willing and able to reach.
Timely: A goal must be grounded within a time frame.
Students brainstormed about the the needs in our community:
- Need a center for people dealing with drug related issues
- Need things for teens to do
- Need a place for teens to hang out
- Need activities that are for everyone – sometimes people feel exclude
